Landscape Painting at the McConnell Art Center
Landscape painting lets us take a closer look at the world around us. In this class, we will explore topics in landscape painting including painting skies and weather conditions, painting in perspective, and painting interior vs exterior scenes. We’ll also analyze different landscape paintings from art history and play with painting techniques and materials to help us develop a personal art style.

Abstract Painting at the McConnell Art Center
Try abstract painting, whether you are looking to further your painting practice or aren’t sure what even makes an artwork abstract. In this class, we'll explore the world of abstract painting--art that doesn't look like real life. Students will create abstract art inspired by words, test out textures and experiment with mixing materials, along with other projects. Students can use either acrylic or oil paints for class.

Flowing Floral Watercolors at the Bob Crane Community Center
Explore dynamic and flowing watercolors in this one-time workshop. Students create a playful floral painting that uses wet-into-wet watercolor techniques. No experience with art is required, this class welcomes all skill levels. All supplies and materials included.

Tulip Painting in Acrylic at Franklin Park Conservatory
Enjoy the beauty and color of early spring flowers while we learn to paint with acrylic. In this one-time workshop, we will practice the basics of acrylic painting, such as mixing colors, creating different brushstrokes, and painting in layers. Then we will use those skills to paint a simple, colorful painting from live tulip bouquets. This class is appropriate for painters of any level – no prior experience required!

Nature Prints at the Bob Crane Community Center
Welcome in spring by making unique art with natural materials. In this workshop, students use spring flowers, stamping and printmaking techniques to make art postcards. Each participant takes home their own set of hand-made cards with no prior art experience needed. Supplies and materials included.

Learn how to give your paintings a strong foundation by starting with a one-color underpainting in this virtual, on-demand class. Instead of being intimidated by a blank canvas, beginning with a one-color or tonal underpainting gives you a head start with the layout of your painting and helps create harmony with your colors. We’ll demystify this traditional painting technique and use it to create vibrant acrylic paintings.
